I Need Your Help! Suggestions For The 'First In Series' Challenge?!

I posted a little while ago that I would be participating in the First In Series Challenge this year. The challenge is basically to read 12 books, all of which are the first book in a series. So far this year I'm zero for 12!!

Honestly, I don't know what to read! I need your help! Can anyone give me a suggestion of a series to start reading? I've already read the Twilight series, all the Gossip Girl books, the Private series, obviously I've read the Harry Potter series, the Weetzie Bat series... what should I read that I haven't already?

Can you help me?! Any suggestion is a good suggestion!

  1. If you want to have a lot of fun, try Louise Rennison's books about Georgia Nicholls--I think the first one is Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging. And, though everyone knows about Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, I like Jodi Lynn Anderson's Peaches trilogy, books about another group of friends.

  2. I have not read them yet but the Uglies, Pretties, Specials series by Scott Westerfeld are supposed to be good. Also, The Boyfriend List by E. Lockhart is super fun. It's part of the Ruby Oliver series (there are just two books right now but the 3rd is coming out soon).

    Good Luck!

  3. What about the Narnia series?

Perhaps a little young though with the films now coming out pretty popular.
Lion the witch and the wardrobe, Prince Caspian, Silver Chair etc.

  4. Death By Bikini by Linda Gerber is the first in an (extremely awesome) series....The Clique is my fave series just about all time. Oh, and A-List Hollywood Royalty just came out!

  5. There is Angela's Ashes. I think that is sort of a first in a series. There is The Friday Night Knitting Club. The Witching Hour. The Shop-a-Holic books. humm.. sounds like a fun Challenge. Good Luck!

  6. I agree with the suggestion to read Uglies. You should also read Hunger Games if you haven't. Wake if you haven't. What else? Peaches, Make Lemonade, Vampire Diaries. Um, yes, The Boyfriend List was AMAZING. Since you liked Harry Potter, I LOVED the first Charlie Bone book. The Elite. Uh, OH!, Suite Scarlet. *looking around at the stacks of books* The Big Empty. A Crack in the Line (haven't read but on my wishlist.) The Secret Life of a Teenage Siren. 3 Willows, have you posted about that already? Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The Dark is Rising series. THE GIVER!!!!! (Should I shut up?) City of Ember (I heard the series goes way down hill after the first book, but I think I will read more anyway.) Okay. I _will_ shut up. Seriously email me if you still need help.

  11. Okay, So I'll do all of the Meg Cabot books 1st:

-The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot. I really love those books. There are 6 books in the series. Paranormal/AWESOME

-1 800 series by Meg Cabot. I like them, not as good as Mediator in my opinion. 5 books.Paranormal

-Heather Wells series by Meg Cabot. I love these! They're adult novels. There are 3 books out so far. Mystery/Chic lit

-Queen of Babble series by Meg Cabot. Very cute. Adult novels. Chic lit.

-Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot. Okay, so Mia is only 14 in the 1st book, but the 10th just came out and it was amazing! Teen lit.

Now for the Non-Meg Cabot Series. (Because I do like other books that aren't by Meg Cabot)

-The Gemma Doyle series by Libba Bray. AMAZING books! 3 books. Fantasy/Paranormal/historical fiction/romance.

-Magic In Manhattan series by Sarah Mlynowski. Very cute! Teen witches. 5 books so far. Teen chic lit.

-Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Bradsheres. Fun books! Great summer reads. 4 books. Teen chic lit.

-A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle. Sure it came out over 40 years ago, but it still is really good! It's my all time favorite book. I can't remember how many books were in the series. Paranormal

-The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. I've only read the 1st book so far (The Wizard's 1st Rule), but it was really good! There are like 12 books in the series, I can't remember. Adult novel. Fantasy.

-WAKE by Lisa McMann. So good! It's the only book out so far of the series. The 2nd book comes out in Feb. Teen/Paranormal/Dreams

-The Violet series by Melissa Walker. I actually haven't read these books yet but they sound pretty good to me. I love her blog though. I think that there are 3 books out. Teen

-Scarlett series by Maureen Johnson. Suite Scarlett is the 1st and only out. The 2nd book comes out later this year or beginning of next (I can't remember). It's in my pile to read. I've heard that it's good.

-Janie Johnson series by Caroline B. Cooney. This is the The Face on the Milk Carton series. I personally loved these books. 4 books in the series. Teen

-Time Travelers Quartet by Caroline B. Cooney. Ah, these are some of my favorite books! Teen/Romance/Time Travel

Well, I can't think of anymore right now. But I think that 16 different series helps some, right? : ) There are 16 series that all have 1st books for you to read!

  12. How about the Inkheart series by Cornelia Funke or the Magicians Guilds series by Trudi Canavan. Both for YA.

  13. SO agree with the Inkheart suggestion, I am just reading the last one right now... Georgia Nicholson also... hmm, what else? What about Eragon, by Christopher Paolini? Or... the Alex Rider series? (A little childish I admit, but I love them XD) Or Raven's Gate, also by Anthony Horowitz... the Missing series by Meg Cabot... OOOH!!! Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman!! I ADORE those books!!! And the Artemis Fowls! Jeesh, I'll have to reread ALL of these now... =D

  14. The Giver, one of my all time favorites. Also I love the Sookie Stackhouse books. The Lily Bard mysteries are decent too. I also enjoyed the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. The Hunger Games, which is must read, is the first in an series (which hasn't been published yet). Also Skin Hunger, the first in the Resurrection of Magic Series. I read that last year and it was awesome. Inkheart series is great. I've read the first Artemis Fowl, it's decent. I suggest just walking into the young adult/middle grade section of your bookstore/library and check out all the series there. :)

  17. I'm reading The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan. It's the first in the four book (so far) Olympians series. The pages are turning fast :D

Also the City of Ember. The book was much better than the movie.

I'm doing the same challenge, so I'm glad to read all of these wonderful recommendations.
